We present a summary of recent notable results from our customer base using cryogenic quantum sensing techniques to study hBN-encapsulated two-dimensional (2D) materials. We highlight our recently launched nitrogen-vacancy (NV) scanning magnetometer’s capability to image magnetic textures and potential to image correlated phases such as those observed in twisted bilayer graphene and other moiré heterostructures. Optically active color centers within hBN provide similar promising avenues for localized quantum sensing of electric and magnetic fields. These complimentary approaches offer unique opportunities to explore sensitive phenomena and characterize magnetic and correlated electronic states in van der Waals materials.
